SCIENCE AND THE BIBLE AGREE— We Are All at the Mercy of Infinity.

OK, you have probably heard neither a scientist or a theologian put it quite like that, but they soon could! Here’s what I mean:

Science now says there is no matter—only vibrational energy. Einstein’s equivalency formula (E=MC²) says matter is just a lot of energy. Matter isn’t made of energy, it is energy. Hundreds of “double slit” experiments[i] have proven that the sub-atomic particles of energy that everything is comprised of are changed by observation or consciousness. String Theory and experiments in group meditation have shown that we are connected in an infinite “unified field” of energy—many would say, consciousness.[ii]

Ancient wisdoms have acknowledged for centuries that the world of the senses, in which we seem to be disconnected bodies, is temporal and illusory—our senses masking the true spiritual nature of existence. Only the infinite and eternal can be real and permanent—worthy of pursuit.[iii]

The Bible has ample description of God as Omnipresent, Omniscient, Omnipotent, and infinite. Of course, the Bible also has many anthropomorphisms—God making Adam from dust, God walking in the Garden and talking to Adam, etc. However, these are metaphors generally used in context of an understanding that God is, in fact Spirit, Love, and beyond human material understanding. Psalm 147:5 Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is infinite. [KJV]

In Revelation 1: 8 John is inspired to tell us regarding God: “I am the Alpha [beginning] and the Omega [end] and the First and the Last.”

A. W. Tozer put it like this: We dwell in matter and space and time and we are

creatures. God is not material; he doesn't dwell in matter.

And he isn't spatial; He doesn't dwell in space.

And he isn't temporal; he doesn't dwell in time.

And he isn't a creature; God is a Creator, not a creature.

God was before any creature was and

as I have said before, nothing adds anything to God

and nothing can take anything away from him.[iv]

The Bible tells us in many ways that God is beyond space and time. He is, however, available to us wherever we may go. "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you. Isaiah 43:2. Obviously, man cannot do these things relying on worldly thought. We can only rise above the illusion of the world based on a complete faith in the infinite which is above and beyond the world’s limited mind.

So, when we talk of infinity we bring to mind both scientific and spiritual truth. String Theory[v]suggests that everything our senses perceive is “made of” the same thing—vibrational energy in an infinite unified field. Scientists generally don’t like to postulate on what that unified field might be— what is the cause. To most, if not all natural scientists, there is no room in science for the acknowledgement or study of anything that might have created the very science they study! The evidence, however, points toward a cause that lies outside our understanding.[vi] Perhaps it is the same consciousness that changes the patterns on the screens of double-slit experiments and that causes life all around us. We might call it CREATIVE THOUGHT. But whose creative thought? Where does it come from? How are we related to it?

Christ taught the turning away from worldly thought to experience spiritual dominion over the laws of the material world. He proved its applicability and truth every day for three years in his prolific healing of sin, lack, disease and death wherever he went. He said putting aside “the old [material] man” would reveal the ever-present [spiritual] man. He didn’t heal people in any material sense. He just said, “get up and walk!” No materia medica[vii] was involved, just the larger truth, Spirit—the true eternal, infinite substance.

When many hear the word, infinite, they think of an endless “line” going to “infinity” in both directions. However, this is not the true understanding of “infinite” at this level of science or religion (metaphysics). “These attributes are not quantities (a quantity can never be truly infinite), but perfections; the infinity is qualitative, consisting in the absence of all defect or limitation in degree, not in amount.”[viii]

Infinity, whether a unified field or God is infinite in all directions. This clearly means that we and the world of the senses exist inside, within, God or science’s unified field, or as Acts 17:27 says…”In whom we live and move and have our being…” We are forced by logic and physics to ask, “if God is infinite can there be anything…else?”

“Well, of course there can,” you answer. “Look around. See that shopping center; see those mountains; remember the holocaust? Do you see me, am I part of God?” Touché! For God to be all there is, our world of physical senses would need to be…a complete and total illusion! “OK, now, Mr. Gleeson,” you respond, “you have gone over the edge into la-la land.”

After many years of scientific study, micro-biologist, Bruce Lipton describes his spiritual epiphany dawning to him this way:

When a beam of white light goes through a prism,

the prism’s crystalline structure refracts the exiting light

so that it appears as a rainbow spectrum. Each color, though a component of the

white light, is seen separately because of its unique frequency. If

you reverse this process by projecting a rainbow spectrum through

the crystal, the individual frequencies will recombine, forming

a beam of white light. Think of each human being’s identity as

an individual color frequency within the rainbow spectrum. If

we arbitrarily eliminate a specific frequency, a color, because we

don’t “like it,” and then try to put the remaining frequencies back

through the prism, the exiting beam will no longer be white light.

By definition, white light is composed of all of the frequencies.

Many spiritual people anticipate the return of White Light to

the planet. They imagine that it will come in the form of a unique

individual like Buddha, Jesus, or Muhammad. However, from my

newly acquired spirituality, I see that White Light will only return

to the planet when every human being recognizes every other

human being as an individual frequency of the White Light. As

long as we keep eliminating or devaluing other human beings we

have decided we don’t like, i.e., destroying frequencies of the

spectrum, we will not be able to experience the White Light. Our job

is to protect and nurture each human frequency so that the White

Light can return.[ix]

Dr. Lipton, I believe, is to be highly commended for his bravery and willingness to think and write outside the scientific, materialistic box. I believe he even sells his epiphany short perhaps due to an unfamiliarity with religion and the Bible in particular, for there are far too few who understand reality and Christ’s teaching of it in spiritual terms very similar to his prism analogy. Many—perhaps most—Christian theologians and pastors teach the Book of Revelation to some degree as a future physical world battle coming to a violent end before God “returns” to take over. The real interpretation is much simpler and is entirely metaphysical. The Bible’s Book of Revelation tells a story which is only spiritually “apocalyptic.” The spiritual symbolism describes the inevitable transition from an illusory, “material” world to the eventual unified spirituality—the “infinite” spectrum of individual souls reuniting into the White Light of God.

Revelation, chapter 21 symbolizes the unification of all men (spiritual beings) yielding a “new heaven and new Earth”—a “city” wherein, “there is no temple, for God is the only temple; and there is no need to illumine the city, for God is the only light,” in which “we were created in its likeness.”[x]

It is the concept of infinity which will unite the world of formerly material science and the study and belief in an infinite God who, after-all, created science. The fields of natural science have no choice now but to embrace the study and the challenge of quantum physics and its unified, infinite field. Those immersed in religious dogma must realize the religion they study is not religion at all but the truth of life—God’s science-- they are embracing. The future of science and more importantly the future of mankind are at the mercy of Infinity.
